In Ancient Greek it means to leave out,
but it really means to leave open–
a door and maybe some windows,
to let the air in, as much as wants in.
And if you count everything unstated,
or a name unsaid…
you will feel the rustling thistle
tumbling through, a thing more tangible
than any bare branches of what I’m about
to say…the said-unsaid rolling through these yards,
skirting unnoticed around corners
and between two raised, impenetrable walls
like an improbable truth.
